12 in 11: May

Well. My prediction that I would not survive May without some clothes buying was accurate. I just wasn't able to resist. I am so tired of my winter clothes that it was inevitable. I've bought a sleeveless black just below the knee length dress that I can wear over long-sleeved t-shirts or warmer jumpers as the weather dictates, and over straight-legged pants or even tights if I'm feeling very brave. It's from some schmick modern fabric that holds its shape and doesn't crumple and has a rather dramatic collar. I was initially a bit put off by the collar but have decided I like it more as time goes by. I seem to be wearing it every second day or so. I also bought two long-sleeved t-shirts to wear under the dress. I feel rather embarrassed to admit that last winter I was wearing t-shirts that were so old and worn that their cuffs were frayed.

And I also bought some earrings at the Old Bus Depot Markets in Canberra. They're like tiny round silver showcases with a textured paper design inside. Quite Japanese in their design.

So, that's four items for May - a total of 6 clothing items purchased in 2011 with 6 more to go. I'm more than half-way through my quota but not half-way through the year. After such a good start this is a bit worrying.

I have bought 5 things. But desperately need jeans and black trousers, just need to get to the shops.

The dress sounds great, and already well worn, so a wise purchase. But surely the earrings count as a souvenir, right?!

Earrings definitely don't count!

Hmmm it hadn't occurred to me that earrings don't count. What a corrupting influence my commenters are!

The dress sounds practical and has seen quite a bit of use already by the sound of things.

I agree with the other commenters: ear-rings don't count!

I'll join the consensus on earrings not counting - they are jewellery! The tunic sounds great, as do the long sleeve t-shirts. Do you mind disclosing the brand - I need some more, and they are such a pain to shop for...

Well whilst I found that whole post rather humorous ! ..I do think that the dress looks perfectly fine with the tights on you, so no need to brave it - just wear it ;)

The earrings like all have said don't count - and I can say they are gorgeous :D ..they'll look great with the new dress and tights.

I wouldn't count the earrings either - they sound lovely btw. The dress sounds very practical too - although I first read "sleeveless" as "backless" then "strapless" and I had some weird mental images of it as winter attire!

Without the earrings, I think you're on target - one thing a month - so well done :) How many things do you think you would have bought if you weren't doing the challenge?

I think earrings would only count if you can wear them with nothing else. Your dress sounds lovely. I haven't braved the 'tights' thing yet.
